Timeshare Datashare: Purchase Hesitations
Provided by: ARDA International Foundation
Recent buyers
cite a variety of reasons of why they were hesitant about purchasing a
timeshare property—four of the top five reasons are related to
money, according to the 2009 Vacation Timeshare Owners Report. The most
popular hesitation cited is the price of the timeshare (32%).
Other money-related hesitations
include concern about annual maintenance fees (25%), possible increases
in maintenance fees in the future (25%), and concern about making a
major “same day” purchase decision on such an expensive item
(24%). Twenty-four percent of owners were concerned that they would not
make enough use of their timeshare.
